design et al are delighted to shortlist a second project for Space Design & Development, this time for the Residential £1-2.5 Million (Property Value) Award in the ID&A Awards 2015.
This gated development of four individually designed, contemporary barn-style family homes is situated on an eight acre site in the Surrey greenbelt, delivering stunning open plan living and far-reaching views over a communal wild flower meadow and woodlands.
The site was initially purchased as a disused Cattery and Dog Kennels and had become mainly derelict, with its principle buildings falling into significant disrepair. It had a substantial collection of hard standing structures, with numerous shacks and outbuildings, all of which created a very poor impact on the open landscape of the greenbelt and value to the local community. The entire building design and architecture of the redevelopment was guided by the Space, Design & Development team who oversaw everything from the planning application to the staging of South Barn, the first to be completed on site. The vision was to create a renaissance for this historical farming location that paid homage to its countryside heritage yet still delivered an outstanding living environment for today’s discerning purchasers.
The external materials used in the finishes include slate, seamed zinc, cedar and oak planking, combined with a traditional red country brick stock. Internally, each home has been completed with a chic ‘retro-industrial’ look with unique materials, finishes and colours ensuring a personal and bespoke look and feel at every home.
