RTKL’s design for Starwood’s Aloft Dongguan Songshan Lake caters to the style-conscious guest. Inspired by local culture and natural surroundings, the design successfully tackles the challenge of aligning with Aloft’s fashionable brand while making its home in between a high-tech industrial park on one side and a stunning landscape on the other. The shape of sails on the nearby lake is visually translated into the hotel’s façade, and the building is oriented such that guests benefit from breathtaking views of Dongguan’s “mist rain” and accompanying rainbows. Aloft Dongguan Songshan Lake’s interiors are modern, fashion-forward and colourful, with urban-inspired guest rooms, state-of-the-art conference spaces and dynamic social and dining venues.
Though Dongguan is better known for manufacturing and technology, it is endowed with impressive natural surroundings that make it a draw for families, tourists and businesspeople on retreat. Nevertheless, as a whole, the hospitality industry in Dongguan is in the midst of a downturn. The market is desperately in need of something different—a bold new design that appeals to today’s traveller and offers a memorable experience.
Aloft Dongguan Songshan Lake delivers just that, distinguishing itself from the pack and catering to these audiences via a different type of design approach—one that welcomes guests into bright, vibrant rooms with signature amenities and high-tech offerings that raise the convenience factor, as well as beautiful spaces to mix and mingle with fellow guests.Aloft Dongguan Songshan Lake is a component of RTKL’s overall master plan for Vanke Dongguan Plaza, a 49,376-SM mixed-use project dominated by retail offerings with a mix of boutique hospitality, speciality dining, and entertainment options.
