We are delighted to announce that De la Torre Design have been shortlisted for an Interior Design Scheme – Power Yacht Award in The International Yacht & Aviation Awards 2017
Inside the major work included eliminating a double staircase into one sweeping staircase accented with a three storey wall of resin panels in the custom image of a waterfall. By eliminating the awkward double staircase the room gained one third more usable interior space on the Main and Bridge decks. The main salon was made into a reception room that at night can be used as a theatre with a drop down screen and a sectional sofa that splits into several different seats that array across the room.
Another intervention was the addition of a case piece in the main salon that cleverly conceals the stairs to the bedroom while providing storage and a dramatic table topped with blue agate that lends itself to the concept of the colour scheme. The colour of the materials relates directly to the varied hues of the ocean and makes one feel like they are living atop the sea. The bridge deck was transformed into a spacious room with a new bar at the corner and a custom pop up television cabinet in the corner with gouged wood covered in blue leather. The centre of the room is anchored by a London commissioned art work as a coffee table flanked by chairs by the renowned designer Vladimir Kagan. The doors of the cabinetry were remade using straw marquetry panels with inserts of nickel to allude to bubbles of the sea.
The top deck was greatly improved with the addition of a large pool surrounded by loungers with a large semi-circular bar topped in blue toned Brazilian granite. The master baths are tiled in blue mosaics with gold leaf accents. The lower deck with the five bedrooms features walls covered in a raw linen from Holly Hunt which continues on the headboards.
