Tell us a little about your background in design (education, experience, etc).

Design or just sketching was always something I would do on a daily basis, my parents told me that I started drawing on tables, desks and my books since the age of 6. That all evolved, and in 2002, I attended the Fachhochschule Pforzheim in West Germany, to study to be a car designer. But in the summer of 2003 I met with Captain Mike Stocker, who back then was the skipper of a MAGNUM 50 Bestia, we went out on a ride with the Magnum and that was all, after 9 months I was in Fort Lauderdale to study the Yacht and Marine design craft.

Since then I have worked on numerous small projects, both marine as well as residential. My studio was supporting other designers and architects with visualisations and partially designed consolations. In summer 2016 there was the chance for my studio to design the interiors of the highest residential building to be built in Berlin. We designed 42.000 sqm of interiors all with a bespoke approach and multiple solutions, as there were also 360 mini apartments. The developers asked for 3 variants of them so potential buyers would have the option to choose. We delivered the complete interior design proposal in May 2017 and since then our portfolio keeps growing. In February 2017, there was the first concrete LOI for Vitality, so interior design works started. There are 2 more large scale maritime projects that we are currently developing in our studio and will be revealed in the next 3-4 months.

What direction do you feel design is moving towards in general terms?

For sure it’s the time of change, platforms have to change, and people need to see something new, something exciting that will create an appetite to invest in.

Where do you feel yacht design is going in terms of schemes?

Open space floorplans, user experience and design as many convertible spaces as possible.

What projects are you currently working on?

Maritime; we have Vitality and an ongoing luxury cruise liner.

Residential; we have a development in Potsdam near Berlin and a Penthouse in Florida.

If you could offer one piece of advice when it comes to design schemes, what would it be?

Axe-Vertical bows and convertible spaces.

What products/services could you not live without when designing?

Coffee and nice music.

How important are The International Yacht and Aviation Awards as recognition of talent and achievement?

An opportunity to experience, how our design stands among others in a demanding industry and showing our work to the public via a very strong medium.

To see Vitality and our Cruise liner in an advanced building stage.
