design et al are delighted to announce that Concept Interiors have been shortlisted for Bedroom Award within The International Design and Architecture Awards 2018.
The design brief for Concept Interiors was to restore a neglected empty rental property for the property owner. The designers were to refurbish and dress this four-storey town house, turning it into a fully furnished stylish executive home. Built in 2011 the property is one of 27 unique homes within a private gated development, designed by Royalton to echo an 18th century London square, but situated in a bustling town in leafy Surrey.
Concept Interiors started this project by restoring the black wooden floors and balustrades, replacing all damaged skirting boards, doors, carpets, re-polishing the stone floors and painting and fully restoring the property. The designers used a light textured linen effect wallpaper in the entrance hall, stairs and landing to add warmth to this hard area to soften and link the spaces, and also wallpapered key areas like the master bedroom, kitchen, guest bedroom and cloakroom.
The newly restored beautiful dark wooden floors and oversized chunky skirting board and architrave, gives this project a feeling of classical grandeur and a beautiful backdrop for the soft furnishings. In the sunken lounge, Concept Interiors added panels of mirrored wall to either side of the fireplace and chose chaises lounges instead of sofas to echo the classical romance and elegance of the property. The extravagant tall ceilings and beautiful tall bay windows and doors were complemented by two over-sized curved back tub chairs, as well as a huge contemporary silk chandelier with crystal droplets and polished metal table lamps to fit with the scale of the room and create the feeling of luxury and sophistication. The contemporary kitchen and dining area are elevated overlooking the lounge offering an open plan area to eat and socialize with an additional TV and café style circular dining table.
The designer’s favourite space is the master bedroom as they feel it offers a feeling of calm and tranquillity. They love the simplicity of this scheme with its mixtures of textures and tones and the lack of clutter or fuss. The key aspect of this project was to create a luxurious, executive home offering flexible accommodation and an aspirational international lifestyle. Concept Interiors wanted the house to flow effortlessly from one room into the next and be a place that you would not want to leave.
