design et al are delighted to announce that Kährs have been shortlisted for Flooring – Hard Floor Award within The International Design and Architecture Awards 2018.
Swedish wood manufacturer Kährs introduces a new timeless ‘French Pattern’ hard flooring design with a modern twist – a plank format design which improves install time and efficiency. Joining Kährs’ design-led European Renaissance collection, a collection of unique and inspiring floors based on the magnificent floor styles of bygone periods, the new design is available in two distinct colour tones – a golden natural brown ‘Castello Rovere’ and a rich, smoky tone ‘Castello Fumo’. The new patterned design has a lively nature – where naturally occurring wood colour variations and a scattering of medium-sized knots enhance the texture and embrace the natural beauty of the wood.
The designs are enhanced with a four-sided bevel to accentuate the edge of each plank, ensuring a classical patterned look and feel. Each board is also carefully brushed, to bring out the character of the grain and highlight the natural texture of the wood. The designs are finished with Kährs’ nature oil surface treatment, which reinforces the natural look of the boards by bringing out the textures, grain and tones within the design.
With a modern plank format, the new designs can be installed much more quickly and efficiently than a traditional French patterned floor. The planks, measuring 1830mm x 305mm x 15mm, have a multi-layer construction of sustainable oak and poplar, making the boards stable for use with underfloor heating. A tongue and groove locking system secures the boards together. In a residential environment, these designs are offered with a thirty-year guarantee, so can be enjoyed for many years to come.
