design et al are delighted to announce that dk INTERIORS have been shortlisted for Living Space – UK Award in The International Design & Architecture Awards 2019.
This project involved the full refurbishment of Grade II listed family home, stylishly designed to complement a family lifestyle with luxury finishes and materials. The brief for dk INTERIORS was to create a stylishly elegant, beautiful yet functional home, with space suitable for a growing family of five. The interiors were to represent quiet luxury and refined finishes but be practical and robust at the same time, with 3 boys and a dog the challenge was to blend luxury interiors with function and form.
For dk INTERIORS, the key aspects of this project were the luxe finishes such as the use of marble, stone and grass cloth wallcoverings. The designers used decorative lighting to add feature points throughout the house, and designed bespoke joinery providing added interest to many rooms. The handmade bespoke kitchen was supplied by Humphrey Munson and further specialists were involved with installing the marble in both the master bathroom and cloakroom.
The success of this project can be attributed to the flow of colour and light throughout the property. The designers used a neutral backdrop which then allowed for the layers of colour, textures and finishes to provide focal points of interest in each individual room.
This Grade II listed property has an elegant architectural feel, it was important for dk INTERIORS to complement the architecture with the interior design and not overwhelm the features of the house. The use of natural materials and neutral colours allow natural light to flourish through the property. The architects’ introduction of skylights and the extension of the kitchen and utility room also increased the spaces and natural light available to the home.
A luxury understated home with a high level of detailing and finish, all tailored and bespoke to the client’s lifestyle and end use maintaining a sense of calm and style.
