design et al are delighted to announce that The Good Studio have been shortlisted for Residential Property £20 Million Plus Award in The International Design & Architecture Awards 2019.
Designing for a young, modern and stylish family that travel frequently, The Good Studio designed their five-storey apartment that features six-star quality with the luxuries and convenience of a hotel that blended seamlessly with simple home comforts. The Clients love entertaining so they requested a home that could be equally private and dynamic, with flexible recreational facilities that would accommodate a growing family. Instead of giving The Good Studio a detailed brief, the clients preferred that the designers get to know each member of the family and use this information to incorporate it into the design.
The final design achieved all its objectives and went beyond client expectations from a design perspective. Spread out over five floors, this splendid eight-bedroom house is the epitome of understated elegance. Inspired by the hushed luxury of top-end designer hotels, it combines impeccable style with the flexibility and comfort required by a family with young children. The living and dining areas were purposefully positioned on the middle floor as the hub of the home, both to draw the family together and to create a central point for adult guests to gather without disturbing the younger family members’ sleep.
The clients appreciate the finer things in life and wanted their home to reflect their love of luxury. As well as top-end furnishings and fittings, flooring and wall treatments, they wanted the function of their home to offer similar amenities to a boutique hotel. There are ample rooms for entertainment – such as a state-of-the-art home theatre, karaoke room, mah-jong & games room, home gym, whisky bar & sky lounge, rooftop sun lounge and a breath-taking outdoor Jacuzzi – all of which provide the client with ample recreation facilities.
The Good Studio sought inspiration from the fashion world as the family is extremely stylish and fashion conscious. The most obvious interpretation of the concept is in the dressing room to the master bedroom, which pays homage to an exclusive boutique with open display shelves and curated partitioned closets and drawers. Purposefully positioned on the middle floor as the hub of the home, the living and dining area serves to draw the family together and to create a central point for adult guests together. The circular sky lounge seats up to 8 people and boasts a stunning view of Macau. The use of dark and sensual tones promotes a sense of tranquillity and intimacy. The custom designed carpet uses sophisticated design techniques to replicate opulent clothing textiles, providing a soft and sumptuous counterbalance to the harder textures of stone, glass and steel.
