A new Al Fresco Restaurant by the River of Kings in Thailand, has brought shortlist success for Fenn Designers. Ciao Restaurant at The Mandarin Oriental, Bangkok has been selected as a finalist in the Asia-Pacific Design & Architecture Awards 2013, shortlisting for the ‘Restaurant Within A Hotel’ category.
Fenn Designers concept for Ciao was driven by the Mandarin Oriental Hotel’s desire to create a new Italian restaurant set by the river amid lush tropical surroundings. At the same time restoring the glory of the Author’s Wing Building as the backdrop to this venue.
With a wealth of experience in hospitality, Fenn team embarked on the journey of turning this vision into reality. The key points in successful restaurant design is understanding the issues of creating spaces that are beautiful, but also fully functional, and maximizing the guests’ experience and floor staff efficiency. And that’s exactly what we set out to do.
We believe we have achieved that; Ciao is a restaurant that has many facets, guests have the choice of bar seating, river front seating, garden view seating or seating at the chef table. Thoughtfully conceived lighting of the façade, the bar and the chef table create a relaxing atmosphere and a feeling of celebration. The modern kitchen building is designed to fully service the restaurant without being seen.
Bright, fresh colours and modern materials were used to bring in a new look to the Mandarin Oriental Hotel, Bangkok dining scene. The new kid on the block is daring, stylish and modern and not afraid to be different. It sits surrounded by the rich heritage of its ancestors.
From vision to creativity then execution, Fenn design team was there working along side the client and other co-consultants to deliver Ciao and we wish it all the success in the world.
