Congratulations to Alexandra Naranjo Designs shortlisted for Residential £2.5 – £5 Million (Project By Value) Award in The International Design & Architecture Awards 2018

design et al are delighted to announce that Alexandra Naranjo Designs have been shortlisted for Residential £2.5- £5 Million (Project By Value) Award within The International Design and Architecture Awards 2018.

The project was commissioned by a well-travelled couple. They decided to return home to Toronto and initiate the process of building their ultimate custom dream home. It was extremely important to the owners that their new home design respected and complemented the existing architecture and character of the neighbourhood. The home had to be timeless, warm and formal but more importantly, inviting. The design for this luxury residence was inspired by traditional Georgian Architecture.

The design brief given by the owner was to “Be bold, Be daring, Be different”. This design brief was absolutely embraced and found this as an opportunity to further challenge and develop Alexandra Naranjo Designs own unique personal and creative qualities. The details for this luxury home are many. Each detail layered and appointed with the utmost attention in every stage of development. There are many beautiful and unique elements to note, but to highlight a few: A three story integrated circular staircase with hand forged iron railings, A 26-foot custom chandelier brilliantly suspended through the staircase, Murano Wallpapers, gold and silver leaf ceilings, upholstered walls in the Dining Room, water jetted and book matched opulent marble floors and custom couture hand woven silk carpets.

Every detail and element have been designed to the highest standard, with the majority of the furniture and lighting pieces being designed bespoke for the property. The goal was to create a truly unique residential property by combining carefully considered design concepts with highly skilled craftsmanship and intelligent use of space to set this home apart from any other luxury residence in Toronto. Alexandra Naranjo Designs favourite part of the project was being able to incorporate bold colours and metallics. One example is the gorgeous Parlour design in Navy and Gold with brass details on the hardware, furniture and ceilings making this room very unique. The use of metallics can also be seen in the Dining room with its upholstered fabric gold walls, Murano chandeliers infused with 22K gold and high gloss ceilings.

Entertaining was a key focus for the clients, so every space was designed keeping that priority in mind. Alexandra Naranjo Designs believe the design works so well because it integrates beauty and functionality. This luxury residence features the finest fixtures, fittings and furniture in a modern translation of a timeless classic. It combines an interesting mix of contemporary elements and custom-made details, creating a curated blend of old and new. The core of the architectural details is traditional and it fuses beautifully with the more transitional furniture pieces and lighting.
