design et al are delighted to announce that Amelia Carter Interiors have been shortlisted for Residential £1-2.5 Million (Project by Value) Award within The International Design and Architecture Awards 2018.
The client of this project acquires properties within a very niche market of the best addresses in London. As a result they expect each project to reflect the provenance of the address and also to set a new standard for luxury property in the area. Amelia Carter Interiors were appointed to transform a tired (last decorated early 1990’s) listed apartment above Scott’s Restaurant on Mount St, Mayfair into an exquisite property that reflected the energy and colourful flair of the area. The apartment was a dated 3-bedroom, 2-bathroom apartment. The walls were lined with chintz and silks and the windows were covered with heavy curtains, cutting out so much natural light. There was a large study area outside of the master bedroom and the sitting room, kitchen and dining room were all separate areas across the front of the building.
Through our design process and working closely with a heritage consultant and The Grosvenor Estate, Amelia Carter Interiors acquired the necessary permissions to meet their clients’ requirement of having a large master suite with walk in dressing room and free-standing bath. Amelia Carter Interiors were also able to add a utility room which is essential in this type of property and a separate WC for guests. The designers created an opening with large French doors between the kitchen and dining room to accommodate modern living and a better flow.
The design is bold in concept, but the colour palette is soothing so does not overwhelm you. The designers have been consistent in their approach to surface treatment with colour and wallpapers and metal finishes throughout are brass or brushed brass. These uniformities combined with the bold use of soft colours, make the property an absolute oasis. The application of colour, delicate textures, natural materials, and beautiful lighting in each room complemented the existing listed features. Through approaching the apartment with an ethereal palette, Amelia Carter Interiors have created an exceptional property wrapped in colour and character. And not seen anywhere else.
