Young international designers are invited to present their design skills in one of the most imaginative cities of the world, Venice. This is the rationale behind the “Lighthouse Competition 2012/2013. The main theme for participants of the competition, which takes place within the framework of the Biennial Architecture exhibition, is light as an immaterial and innovative vehicle used to describe the transition from the mainland to the water.
The competition encourages the participants to view the city as a stage, where light becomes a medium linking man to architecture and urban voids/spaces, which are then turned into locations. Entrants should create a sustainable light capable of stimulating new consciousness, identities, and environmental qualities, while establishing connections and keeping the pace with man and nature.
