With a celebration of Indian roots blended with Oriental character, Imperial Spice offers a superior fine dining experience located within a bustling market in the heart of New Delhi. Considering the clientele and footfall gathered from the crowded market, Imperial Spice was designed to cater for all dining experiences through the provision of various seating spaces; including, a private dining area, family booths, dining spaces for large gatherings and a bar area with a lounge. The Imperial Spice architect Amit Sharma, together with the architect and interior designer Rupal Rajan, designed this fine dining restaurant to evoke a sensory experience by encompassing an instant connection with nature through its detailing.

One way in which Amit Sharma and Rupal Rajan have effectively created a sensation of connecting with nature is through an inverted lotus pond on the ceiling. It has been created in such a way that the dim light surrounding the lotus pond provides as an Indian touch to augment the mood of the various functions of the spaces Imperial Spice offers. This has been achieved through the lotus pond being derived from the view of sunlight falling on it; which is accentuated through a dim yellow light shining on metal lotus shaped modules to create the same effect on the ceiling. As this lotus pond takes inspiration from nature, it embodies the feel of nature while seated in an enclosed space; enabling one to move beyond the boundaries of the enclosed space and thereby, feeling connected with the outside. This sensation is enhanced through use of various interior and exterior installations to create a harmonious, spatial experience in relationship with its Indian roots, traditions and crafts. Throughout the restaurant, brass, copper and stainless steel have been used extensively alongside a blend of technology and craft, including that of laser cut metal and hand bending, to achieve the final results in creating the ambience.

The depth of detailing in various nooks and corners, that would otherwise go unnoticed, have been uplifted to be inviting and aesthetically pleasing spaces. An example is the private dining area, where the glass pitched roof adds an abundance of natural light and drama to the space, which has been accentuated with a dash of colour on the seats. The private dining area acts as a voluminous form engulfed with natural light that seeps into the depths of the space.
