design et al are delighted to announce that Bishop Design have been shortlisted for Bar/Club/Lounge Award in The International Hotel and Property Awards 2018.
The brief as set out by Habtoor Hospitality was to create a nightclub venue, with a theatrical atmosphere that aimed to bring a new direction to the world of nightlife and stage entertainment. Located on the rooftop of the W Hotel, the venue is conveniently placed to attract elite individuals and a clientele searching for an enhanced nightlife experience. For Bishop Design the interior was to create an experience that was high-end and of the up-most luxury. The key design features include Senso flooring which morphs into different patterns, intriguing lighting and full LED walls create optical illusions, Swarovski studded crystal carpets and three dimensional reflective ceilings transport you to a new world of performance and entertainment with an elite sense of exclusivity.
A sunset and shisha lounge were to be located in the pre-club area so that guests could relax in a lounge environment before continuing their night in the main club. Both areas were to operate separately, serviced by their own bar, resulting in a natural evolution and transition of space to occur seamlessly. With the understanding that BOA Lounge & Club had the potential to be a completely unique addition to the nightlife scene in Dubai and something that the region had never been exposed to, Bishop Design had the chance to leave behind a legacy, and change the future of the nightlife scene within not only Dubai, but the GCC region as a whole.
The design allows for an effortless evolution of space to occur over the course of the evening which ultimately enhances the overall guest experience. This is achieved immediately through the entrance, which is lined with intriguing infinity wall panels and mirrored surfaces that create optical illusions revealing the “Beat of Angels” logo adorned in Swarovski crystals. The space is then divided into two different levels – both vertically and horizontally – where cascading platforms meet in the main bar area. Before entering the main club, the sunset and shisha lounge located in the pre-club space features a façade that opens up to an outdoor area surrounded by mesmerizing panoramic city views.
The fluid bar in the main area of the venue counter fuses with a large stage and performance catwalk, which hosts dramatic and avant-garde performances. All the spaces within are visually connected, allowing the clientele to see and be seen. The seating area is part of the performance and theatrical experience, enriched by the use of dynamic furniture laid out organically in its shape and form, providing the clientele and performers with a surface to dance on. It is a projection of such high intensity, dramatized spatial spaces whilst still remaining true to its functional aspirations.
Located in Al Habtoor City, the heart of Dubai, the venue is suitably situated within a location that attracts clientele of high society, celebrities and those desiring a unique, engaging experience. “Beat of Angels” is a highly stylized interior that is visually dynamic while combining a diverse selection of materials and finishes as well as a vast palate of exclusive and bespoke elements culminating in the creation of an unforgettably innovative design. Bishop Design find this project to be an iconic interior that embodies the sense of an exclusive theatrical performance driven spirit. A completely unique, ‘never seen before,’ nonpareil addition to Dubai’s nightlife scene with no other venue comparing to the scale of such a dedicated nightclub, BOA Lounge & Club now sets a benchmark for all future night life venues within the region.
