design et al are delighted to announce that Bishop Design LLC have won Restaurant Award in The International Hotel and Property Awards 2017.
Bishop design LLC were commissioned to re-design a venue that could allow multiple spaces operating as one with various functions that would envision a modern day market hall incorporating elements such as retail, café/bakery, casual dining, bar/lounge, the “shop in shop”, rotisserie and incubator kitchen. The differing spaces would allow for public interaction within while allowing for the atmospheric dynamics to prevail yet incorporating visual boundaries for confinement. Located in the heart of DIFC, Bazxar is a refreshingly new and unique concept for Dubai and offers a flexible dining environment that can cater to any gastronomic need. The design direction envisioned a raw and urban quality of space accentuated by a refined elegance that would allow for the venue to morph organically throughout the day.
A mixture of materials were used to achieve this through the incorporation of varied seating arrangements, over accentuated lighting, original bespoke finishes, authentic architectural reclaimed brickworks and cobblestones as well as functional design elements such as rotational prisms that would allow for interchangeable signage throughout the day representing the food offerings and setting the tone for the evening experience. The concrete textures, cold-rolled steel design elements and brass metal detailing bring the elegantly stylized contemporary urban eatery to life. One of the main features of the design is its meticulously calculated sensory dynamics. Through an intricate layering of meshes and screens, the venue has a controlled visual allowance within the interior zones. However, the atmospheric sounds from within the venue are able to travel beyond the entrance in order to create a lively and dynamic experience capturing the clientèle’s attention. A key aspect of this project is the space.
It takes the clientèle on a gastronomical journey through its many zones from casual to standing dining areas that are then complemented by more formal dining spaces and lounge areas. The design of the space also allows each area to operate as separate entities, if necessary. It allows the brand to potentially branch out into more focused and individualistic venues with their own signature designs and operational features. Through an intricate layering of meshes and screens, the venue has a controlled visual allowance within the interior zones. However, the atmospheric sounds from within the venue are able to travel beyond the entrance in order to create a lively and dynamic experience capturing the clientèle’s attention. An exceptionally distinctive venue that holds all of the charm and allure of an eatery with an intriguingly new and dynamic design direction. Bazxar is redefining casual dining in the region and has now become a viable brand to roll out into international markets.
