design et al are delighted to announce that Bost Interior Design have been shortlisted for Hotel Over 200 Rooms Europe Award in The International Hotel and Property Awards 2017.
The hotel is located in the Elbphilharmonie, Hamburg’s new landmark, a architectural symbiosis of the historical Kaispeicher building and glass palace above. The Westin Hamburg is part of the Elbphilharmonie and stretches over 21 floors above the former historic brick-stone quayside and the new glass construction. Thanks to ceiling-to-ceiling windows, the hotel offers breathtaking views of the city, the harbour and the river Elbe. The interior design of the hotel reflects the location in the harbour of Hamburg and creates a harmonious mix of modern, stylish and purist design elements. There are 205 luxurious rooms and 39 spacious suites, including the spectacular 160 square metres. The owner’s suite has a private balcony that offers a 270-degree view. The design of the hotel derives its influence from the particular location of the building at the top of the Sandtorharbor in the HafenCity Hamburg, and also the extraordinary architecture of the architects Herzog & de Meuron. The functional and emotional demands of high-end hotel industry in the interior architecture required a certain warmth, timeless hospitality in the interior of the hotel to be combined with expressive, but cool architecture. The individual language of hotel design and architecture is harmonised with mutual respect in the sense of the holistic nature of the Elbphilharmonie project. The special location in the lively harbour district had a major influence for the project. Bost Interior Design wanted to give the busy harbour scenario a resting-pole in the midst of business. As a result, the basic design and colour concept was developed for all areas of the hotel with the topics of sand – water – air. Water in all its facets and its movements as a flowing and soft force with waves and reflections was taken over into the design of the interior architecture. The quiet, puristic design of the hotel areas, with the themes of sand, air and water, combines a straightforward design with a flowing form language. The interior architecture creates a creative connection between interior and exterior in a respectful way. The high technical innovation follows the overall architecture. In all rooms, the bathrooms have special features like big glass windows. All are equipped with showers and bathtubs with a view of Hamburg. On the 8th floor on the plaza level of Philharmonic is the hotel lobby area with reception and the “The Bridge Bar”. One floor below, the 7th floor is the restaurant “Saffron” located and the complete boardroom area with ballroom. On the 6th floor is the spa area equipped with the longest pool of Hamburg.
