design et al are delighted to announce that BoxNine7 have been shortlisted for Interior Design Scheme – UK Award within The International Design and Architecture Awards 2018.
This project involved a luxury apartment in the heart of central London, the brief for Boxnine7 was to ensure the property is elegant, functional yet contemporary. Boxnine7 were instructed to create a scheme which reflected not only the nature of the development but also reflected upon the history of the Jazz Club within the design. The designers had to ensure that the space would fit the demographic and furniture would be functional yet appeal to the aspirational lifestyle of the development.
Boxnine7 wanted the interior scheme to be considerate of its local environment, therefore items were locally sourced to reflect the surrounding shops, nightlife, and theatres. The colour scheme is neutral with additional brighter elements which help to complement the existing features within the design. The designers intended for the interiors to feel contemporary but relaxed and include a range of textures and finishes throughout. The soft colours within the scheme complement the green wall installed by the architects. It perfectly reflects a modern home within an area which has such an affluent and diverse history. The locally sourced books and accessories in the space highlight how the mix of old and new can work together in perfect harmony.
Boxnine7 believe that one of the key aspects of this project is the artwork, which is also a focal point within the living space. The artwork depicts people moving through the space, which is indicative of the Jazz Club design concept that the designers were looking to achieve. The colours were also the inspiration for the colour scheme of the interiors as it is incorporated within the marketing and interior architecture of the space. The scheme utilises a mix of modern and contemporary design with antique accessories and styling, bringing together the idea of a modern home with an eclectic twist. The colour scheme is elegant and soft but the mix of finishes throughout the space enhance the design further.
