design et al are delighted to announce that Cave Interiors have been shortlisted once again, this time with their Downside Crescent project for the Residential £2.5-5 Million(Property Value) Award.
This Victorian villa in Belsize Park was badly damaged by a fire. Cave Interiors were instructed to undertake a complete interior service which included all aspects of design from space-planning through to furniture design and final soft furnishings. The brief was to create an individually stylish but relaxed and practical family home for a hard-working professional couple with three young children. The key to this project was mixing Vintage and antique elements with modern as well as restoring all the original features damaged in the fire.
A crucial part of the brief was to incorporate modern with new and give the clients a home that would wear well and sit comfortably with them in terms of their own personal style. It was indeed a challenge bringing this house back to life after the fire and years of neglect by the previous owners. All the original & damaged features were restored such as the cornices and fireplaces and the balance between old and new is a particular favorite of this project.
The scheme Cave Interiors created gave their clients the stylish, eclectic but relaxed and practical home as briefed. It has incorporated all aspects and included the sourcing and installation of antique French encaustic tiles in the Hall, polished concrete for practicality in the open plan Kitchen/Diner, beautiful reclaimed style Chevron laid floors in the Living areas, bespoke wallpapers, hand printed fabrics, vintage light fittings, semi-precious and Moroccan tiling, the bespoke kitchen & cabinetry throughout made to the design drawings, made to measure & vintage sofas and many beautiful antique finds including the chandeliers, mirrors etc.
