Chella Textiles for Fameed Khalique have been short listed for the Fabric award in the International Product Design Awards 2013 with the Quicksilver collection.

Chella is a pioneer in luxury performance fabrics, this outstanding and exceptionally durable collection contains the industry’s first solution-dyed acrylic fabrics guaranteed not to fade and to withstand harsh treatment from sun, rain, freezing temperatures and wear and tear.

Whilst most fabrics are created from fibres that are initially colourless and then dyed, these solution-dyed acrylic fabrics are created when a liquid acrylic solution is combined with precisely-determined colours before the coloured liquid is transformed into fibres.

Deceptively simple in appearance, yet technically complex, this matte shine dobby uses three different yarns in both warp and fill directions – one thick, one thin, one shiny – to create a luxuriously soft fabric with an edgy, appealing optic. The contrasting yarns result in an unusual chainmail effect to give Quicksilver depth and flexibility that work with all types of surfaces and spaces.
