design et al are delighted to announce that AAID have been shortlisted for Bar/Club/Lounge – Global Award in The International Hotel & Property Awards 2019.
The Imperial Club is an exclusive lounge provided to Imperial Club Guests at the Atlantis, The Palm, an ocean-themed resort in Dubai. Allen Architecture Interiors Design (AAID) was tasked with creating a uniquely tailored lounge which provided guests with a place to work, dine, socialise and relax. Ensuring the new lounge fitted into the existing footprint of the building and the original hotel concept was one of the biggest challenges of the project. In response, various design features in the lounge pay tribute to existing details found within the property but used in a more stylised and contemporary way.
The design intent was based around the need to create a diverse guest experience merging comfort, privacy and relaxation. The distinct and unique seating arrangements varied from formal dining and flexible lounges, to private and intimate destinations. The look and feel of the lounge is a harmonious blend of the brand’s identity with classic contemporary features. The Imperial Club Lounge offers an elegant, luxury retreat with everything tailored to emphasise convenience, comfort and style. The beating heart is the unique Club Lounge; an expanse that is the perfect spot for families, couples and individuals to dine, entertain and be entertained.
One of the key features of the project that truly stands out is the amount of layering within the spaces themselves. As the guest travels through the space they are taken on a journey of discovery and exploration. Whether its peering through ornate metal screens that create a textured separation between seating areas or the combination of panelling with upholstery fabric and patterned mirror, guests are given a sense of privacy through these details. The overall colour palette and material selections express a neutral and fresh background allowing playful aquatic tones of blue and coral to be noticed as they carry throughout the space. The soft seductive ambience enhances the convivial atmosphere, paying homage to an underwater world. In addition, the various scaled shell patterns in the flooring and the abstract blown glass chandeliers in the corridor are extracts of aquatic patterns and textures that were thoughtfully integrated and compliment the existing hotel’s theme.
