Located on the north-western coast of Morocco, Banyan Tree Tamouda Bay is an all-pool villas resort designed with Moroccan Mediterranean flavours inspired by Andalusian-Moorish architecture. Situated in the ancient town of Tamouda within the city limits of Tetouan and close by to the Spanish enclave Ceuta, Banyan Tree Tamouda Bay is home to the 92 private luxury all-pool villas. It has the dramatic setting of the Rif Mountains as a backdrop with the main facilities facing the Mediterranean Sea.Architrave Design & PlanningPaying homage to the region’s Andalusian-Moorish legacy and Moroccan heritage, the resort’s architecture and décor bear hallmarks of both influences. Austere exteriors lead to opulent interiors embellished with arched doorways and intricate Moroccan Moucharaby panels. The landscapes, courtyards, verdant gardens, fountains and reflecting pools are featured throughout this Morocco luxury resort. The indigo blue and white colour schemes are influenced by the bright blue skies and deep blue hues of the Mediterranean Sea and from the walls of the Median in Tetouan. Carved plasterwork found on the walls and ceilings gives reference to the Moorish and Andalusian arabesque architecture. Courtyard gardens are a prevalent feature throughout the resort between villas and within the spa, which also reflect the Andalusian style of design. Zellij mosaic tiling, the Moroccan art of intricate hand cut tiles, features heavily throughout the resort’s design, adding more Moroccan charm and sense of place.Architrave Design & PlanningThe 92 all-pool villas are featured with the classic Moroccan-style architecture and décor of overall motif of floral Arabesque, overlooking the Mediterranean Sea. Each of these villas exudes captivating Moroccan charm with a refreshing Mediterranean spirit, offers private refuge and a sensuous gateway with the help of Architrave Design & Planning. A new hidden gem of destination where the culture is authentic and real, visitors to this untouched destination can also discover The UNESCO World Heritage City of Tetouan, the “blue town” of Chefchaouen nestled in the mountains and the art deco jewels of Tangier – the resort pays tribute to the region’s Andalusian-Moorish legacy that evokes a sense of place. One of the important key aspects to retain a true sense of place was the use of local artisans and craftsmen. A modern interpretation of both Andalusian and Moroccan style is infused throughout the design using arabesque carved lattice works evident on the floors, walls, ceilings, furnishings and lighting and blue tiled pitched roof reflecting the local vibes.Architrave Design & Planning
