The Hyatt Regency provides hospitality to compliment retail, adding to the flourishing Tyson’s Corner Center’s 1.4 Million sq-ft project to achieve a versatile experience for the discerning guest. The Overall development comprises of an office tower and residential tower which are all connected by an elevated public plaza to both an adjacent mall and newest Metro station. As well as increasing footfall, the Metro stop has also provided a highly sustainable form of transportation to the otherwise traffic-congested area.
The Plaza itself is designed to accommodate a variety of seasonal events such as outdoor movie screenings, live music, farmer’s markets and even an ice rink. The Plaza also works with the hotel’s restaurant and bar to offer outdoor dining for guests. In addition the hotel offers 15,000 sq-ft of meeting space including a 7,500 sq-f Ballroom, an indoor pool, and a 1,600 sq-ft fitness area.
Extreme site constraints required the meeting space to be spread over 4 floors and the circulation challenges are overcome by a carefully planned combination of dedicated podium elevators and escalators.Representing an investment upwards of $70 million, the RTKL-designed Hyatt Regency adds an accommodation option to Tyson’s Corner Center’s 1.4 million-SF expansion. Adjacent and directly connected to the renowned shopping mall, the 20-story, 300-key hotel is designed to achieve LEED certification. It’s a simple design, executed in quality, elegant materials that creates a powerful, space-defining edge along the eastern side of the Plaza and helps to activate the Plaza through its restaurant/bar and other hotel activities.
