design et al are delighted to announce that Carlisle Design Studio have been shortlisted for a Residential £10 million Plus Project by Value Award in The International Design and Architecture Awards 2016
Carlisle Design Studio have created a highly bespoke family home in Central London. A 9,000 sq.ft late Victorian terrace house with 4,000 sq.ft basement extension; the property includes a cinema, a 14 metre swimming pool, a spa and a gym. It has been designed specifically for the clients’ day to day living; for their children to grow into, for them to expand their art collection, and to entertain guests.
From the soft, gallery-like Formal Reception, dark, moody Dining Room, fresh, minimalistic Swimming Pool, and airy and relaxing Family Living Room, every room provides a different atmosphere and style to satisfy the clients’ appetite for design. Details of bespoke fitted joinery, lighting and furniture were thoroughly developed and coordinated to make sure the style of each space was uncompromised. The Central Staircase with a jewellery inspired chandelier spans 5 floors, and the consistent architectural design elements throughout the house act as the link to all the different spaces, tying the design of the house together.
Most of the lighting and furniture began as hand sketches and 3D models. Working closely with artisans all over Europe we have been involved throughout – inspecting prototypes, manufacturing processes and installation. Inspirations for these items broadly range from European Classic, Art Deco, Brutalism, to Latin American Modern.
Everything from the interior architecture, finishes palette, lighting, furniture, artwork, down to dressing items such as embroidered cushions and made to order picture frames, were carefully considered from the beginning to ensure a holistic design was achieved.
