Doreen Chambers Interiors’ spectacular renovation of a 5-floor brownstone situated in Brooklyn’s prestigious Cobble Hill neighbourhood. This project involved the renovation and decoration of a 5-floor brownstone. The interior design elements included custom-made furnishings and upholstery using luxurious silk damasks and textured woven fabrics for a vibrant yet elegant colour palette.
The property renovation included new bathrooms, a new kitchen, re-finished double plank wood floors, adding windows on the back wall of 3 floors, installing a back-door leading to the garden on the ground level, refinishing exposed brick wall in the dining room, renovating 3 fireplaces, refinishing, or replacing existing mantels. The interior design included custom-made furnishings, upholstery and window treatments using sumptuous classic silk brocades and textured woven fabrics for a vibrant yet elegant colour palette. Crystal chandeliers and antique Asian rugs complete the sophisticated decor.
Doreen Chambers Interiors’ clients were not afraid of colour so it was great for the designers to have the opportunity to work with fabrics and wallpapers using a vibrant colour palette. The designers believe that the architectural and interior design wove together seamlessly for a perfect mix of classic and contemporary style. The brownstone is located in the historic neighbourhood of Cobble Hill, Brooklyn and the façade maintains the classical look of others on the block. All the major changes are revealed inside, where small rooms have been opened up and additional windows and doors have been placed on the back walls of each floor so the house is now flooded with light. Overall the brownstone’s historical integrity has been maintained, while the structural renovation and interior design make it more conducive for raising a modern young family.
