Congratulations to Esra Kazmirci shortlisted for Living Space – Europe Award in The International Design & Architecture Awards 2017

design et al are delighted to announce that Esra Kazmirci has been shortlisted for Living Space – Europe Award in The International Design and Architecture Awards 2017.

This 330 m2 property is located in Istanbul. The clients are a small family and the project consisted of designing the living room, kitchen, a master bedroom, 2 children’s bedrooms and a guest bathroom on the lower floor. The upper floor has been designed as a children’s play area, a laundry room, a guest bedroom, and an entertainment room. A second corridor was created when the fully redesigned children’s bedrooms were separated by a sliding door. The master bedroom was planned in order to include a dressing room and a master bathroom, all in the same space.  A staircase has been included to allow passage to the attic. In order to allow light to come in freely, Esra Kazmirci used an attic window all the while leaving the I-beams visible out in the open to keep the high ceilings.  Esra KazmirciThe lower level has been planned as a cosier area whereas the upper level has been decorated as a more glamorous and chic area for entertaining guests. The attic, designed as the family’s entertainment area, is definitely one of their favourite rooms. Esra Kazmirci managed to keep the room height, the corners where it was impossible to do so were put to good use by turning them into closet spaces. The room, where mainly shades of grey reside, has been coloured with the use of different textile and accessories. A combination of grey and yellow stands out in the attic.Esra KazmirciEsra Kazmirci created an exciting, cosy yet elegant interior space taking in consideration the owners demands along with their personal style. Functionality and aesthetics were big criteria in the design process in order satisfy the owners lifestyle and their priorities.  It is extremely important for Esra Kazmirci to meet the following criteria when designing: the space must grasp you, make you feel at home, give you joy and serenity, embodied by a colour harmony, and the project must include some contrast as well as a balance with the use of accessories. This apartment is extremely serene, functional as well as stylish.
