design et al are delighted to announce the continued success of Jeffrey Beers International who have been shortlisted for a Hotel Lobby/Public Space/Lounge Award in The International Hotel and Property Awards 2016.
Situated in the idyllic Paradise Island off the coast of Nassau in the Bahamas, the newly designed Hartford Wing needed to weave around it’s natural surroundings with much inspiration taken from the natural elements of the island. When designing the pool deck, measure were taken to ensure that it did not detract from the view of the ocean guests would have upon arrival at the main lobby. Careful calculations were made to prevent this without losing the luxurious ocean view from the poolside.
Defined by sleek modern lines created by Ipe flooring and adorned with aquamarine mosaic tiles and limestone coping, teak lounge furniture offers relaxation for guests, upholstered in white with persimmon accents.
The courtyard lies adjacent to the guestrooms offering comfortable access to the outdoors, dark limestone and light travertine form a graphic flooring pattern that compliments the mostly neutral furnishings with flashes of persimmon accented by the lush greenery and magenta bougainvillea trestles. The focal point is the central fountain, covered in iridescent blue and white mosaic tiles and ringed with lanterns.
As a large open space, the courtyard had to be configured in a way that it would feel private and intimate when being used by multiple parties. To do so, they created a European-inspired outdoor living room using landscaping, trellises, and strategically positioned seating clusters. A palette of teal, turquoise and persimmon intermingled with the resort’s signature white keeping the spirit of the island whilst lending a fresh new edge for guests.
