design et al are delighted to announce that Juliette Byrne Ltd have been shortlisted for Residential £5 Million Plus (Property by Value) Award in The International Design and Architecture Awards 2017.
This Mayfair project involved the renovation of a dilapidated 6 floor town house and transforming into a prime central London luxury boutique home for overseas clients. The classic Mayfair townhouse represents the pinnacle of prestigious living, and 11 Queen Street is a quintessential example of its kind. It has been a private home since it was built in the mid-18th century, and now, tastefully redesigned, and lavishly furnished by Juliette Byrne Ltd, is presented afresh as an impeccable London residence. Six floors of accommodation encompass sophisticated luxury and the most up-to-date features, meeting every requirement of contemporary city living.
The property has been designed to meet the highest expectations of visitors who travel with their family and most value home privacy with luxury hotel standards in London’s most desirable location. The townhouse has been comprehensively renovated including rewiring, new plumbing, AC, AV, new custom kitchen and bathrooms and decorated and furnished in the most opulent manner. The many desirable features include black walnut parquet flooring; period style marble fireplaces, fully marbled bathrooms, hand knotted made to order silk rugs. Italian chandeliers and bespoke finest quality furniture allows to host the finest guests and family.
To complement the whole design, the house has been designed with specially commissioned oil paintings, prints and sculptures, which makes the house turn key and presented in a unique way. The house has been divided into formal, semi formal and private zone. A bright and elegant formal zone surrounded by stylish wall panelling fits drawing room and study. The semi-formal area has been split between 2 floors and includes reception room and TV room in silk wallpaper and Luxury game room with bespoke monogrammed billiard table, horn chess board table and specially commissioned leather wrapped drink cabinet with lit interior and mirror internal doors.
A beautiful and unusual link between the two floors is the double height atrium which has been covered and converted into an elegant and stylish dining room with bronze chandelier and crystal goblets – reflected into the antique mirrored panels. There is a spacious luxury master bedroom suite with fully book matched marble bathroom – this owner master bedroom covers the whole third floor. The top two floors are dedicated to four guest bedrooms en-suite, which has been designed to keep the same design ethos. However, by using a variety of veneers, fabric, marbles and art pieces each bedroom has own personality and specially commissioned joinery with rose gold and antique brass inlay which creates a stunning vision on each floor.
Additionally, the house possesses a panic room, lift and bespoke hand-painted kitchen with Gagennau appliances suitable for chefs. The kitchen has a bar area for socialising and specially commissioned contemporary artwork in a bold palette to add a splash of colour. The whole house has been designed with Smarthome system which allows to control fireplaces, TV, temperature, sound and security system from control panels, tablets which are located around the house and smartphones. Juliette Byrne Ltd are very proud of the drawing room. This room was completely transformed from its original run down state and restored to originally glory by designing and adding decorative cornices and ceiling roses to allow for the installation of the chandeliers. The designers also installed the antique marble fireplace with register grate, panelled the walls and laid a stunning walnut parquet floor with a dark wood insert border. By linking the drawing room to the rear of the floor area it created a separate study with fitted bookcase units with concealed lighting and display areas. The owners can now use the study area and look out of the three floor to ceiling French doors that lead onto a balcony and overlook the wonderful architecture of Mayfair beyond. The design of the drawing room floor and the dining room atrium works so well as it links the different zones of the property but still keeping the individual feel of the designs of each area. The Atrium has electric opening glass ceiling which allows for “al Fresco” dining and also has an elegant circular bespoke rug which enhances the wonderful plaster wall art features and circular dining table and table settings. Juliette Byrne Ltd worked with very talented and highly skilled sub contractor’s and specialist artisans such as bespoke metal work for all the inlays in the joinery, the wall lights in the hallway made of crystal droplets were designed and manufactured for Juliette Byrne Ltd in Italy and adds glamour to the hall and stair areas. The bedlinen and sheets were monogramed with the logo of the property and the headboard feature wall in the master bedroom was specially created for the designers to enhance the ambiance of the room. All the external railings were restored by their craftsmen and the house totally re wired and re plumbed so underfloor heating and energy saving elements were added.
