design et al are delighted to announce that Liza Evans Interior Design have been shorltisted for a Living Space Global Award in The International Design and Architecture Awards 2016
Located in Rincon Hill, one of San Francisco’s fastest-growing neighbourhoods, the client’s brief was to do a complete re design of an apartment in the Jasper building, a new, 430’ high-rise where residents enjoy high-end, hi-tech services, such as interactive touch screen technology for valet parking, 24/7 concierge, car charging stations and a dog washing and grooming station. The open plan, 3-bed, 2-bath apartment has floor-to-ceiling windows with views of the Bay Area skyline, a wealth of natural daylight and 1400 sq. ft. of floor space. The inspiration for the apartment was film noir and the design concept was to blend present-day luxury with a mid-century design aesthetic.
The client was keen to maximize the use of the open floor plan which was achieved by making spaces multi-functional using zoning techniques – the open plan kitchen needed to be a comfortable place to eat breakfast and elegant enough to be transformed into a formal dining space. He also wanted entertaining zones which worked for everyday living – a bar area,
a library, dining area and a relaxation lounge and, above all, to maximize the stunning views.
Subtle touches of timeless, tactile, accessories bring a homely sophistication and visual warmth. Cashmere throws sit comfortably with woven raffia furniture which is finished with nail head detailing. A mixture of wool and hide rugs compliment the wooden flooring and provides contrasting textures underfoot. The design works well as distinguishable living spaces have been created within an open plan design providing multi-functionality as well as surprising zones of intimacy. The natural colour palette compliments the abundance of natural daylight and the stunning visual impact of the Bay Area skyline.
