Milk Leisure designed, supplied and installed the bespoke sauna, steam room and changing rooms at The Broughton Hall Avalon Spa; unique wellness concepts that were delivered to the very highest standards. Milk Leisure were provided with an enviable design brief where the client’s scope allowed Milk Leisure free reign to deliver some truly original concepts for these thermal experiences. The fundamental parameters stipulated by the client were to deliver something unique and organic to reflect the ethos and philosophy of the Avalon Wellbeing Centre.
A key aspect of the project was the research and development that was conducted for the utilisation of the materials used in the installations. The freedom of design and expression became a favourite aspect of the project, which also contributed to the continued development of Milk Leisure’s ambitions to become the leading UK manufacturer of thermal spa experiences. The key to the success of the installations were the extensive 3D modelling; the processing of rough sawn timber to create the free form interior of the sauna cabin; the design and fabrication of bespoke light fittings; the creation of the CNC milled substrate forming the steam room and the application of the handmade Italian tiles.
Milk Leisure feel that the reason why the design of the installations works so well is because it reflects the client brief and expectations honestly. The design of the installation integrates into the wider environment as a key part of the project was to ensure the experiences delivered through the sauna and steam room worked within the poolside scheme. Therefore, reflection on the palette of materials and coordination were as crucial as the interiors of the thermal cabins themselves. Not only are Milk Leisure’s installations unique and beautifully delivered, but they have been designed to operate and function within extreme environments; a fact that Milk Leisure feel shouldn’t be ignored.
