design et al are delighted to announce that Nathan Anthony Furniture has won the Sofa Award in The Product Design Categories within The International Design and Architecture Awards 2017
The Minx wing features a pioneering diagonal stitching treatment applied around a moving grid. When combined with the design’s swooping shapes and undulating lines, the dramatic upholstery frame appears to be sporting the image of angel wings. The collection includes a wing sofa and a fainting couch, both of which float on gently tapered steel tube legs. Each piece is designed with a modified shelter back, and sloping arms that graduate down to wrap each side of the seat surface – the effect is like an elegant hug when seated. All frames that are used within Nathan Anthony Furniture are passionately and proudly built in their on-site premises in Los Angeles, CA, USA.
Co-founders of Nathan Anthony Furniture, Tina Nicole and Khai Mai share their unique experiences of travelling the world and their exposure to music, fashion and culture to create innovative designs which “can be as original as you are”. Together since high school, Nicole and Mai continue to work side by side bringing new concepts to life with free rein on fabrics, colours and shapes, a passion they have both had for many years. Established in 2004 in California, the Award Winning multidisciplinary company, named after Nicole’s and Mai’s son, not only gather their inspiration from the ever-changing world around them, but also draw upon inspiration from fellow creatives such as Patricia Urquiola, Hella Jongerius and Coco Chanel.
