design et al are delighted to announce that Oakeve Interiors have been shortlisted for Bedroom Award in The International Design and Architecture Awards 2017.
The design brief was to create a fabulous, impressive and luxurious ‘show case’ new home, engendering an ‘aspirational lifestyle’ choice for any discerning prospective purchaser. The design brief, specifically for the master bedroom, was to create an opulent retreat that would successfully provide future homeowners with a tranquil haven away from the bustling hub of the home on the ground floor. This brief was taken into consideration from the outset of the project to ensure that the media room on the second floor wasn’t situated directly above the master bedroom. A comprehensive and luxury interior design scheme was applied to the suite, with a complementary colour palette of soft blues, silvers and greys continuing through the master bedroom into the master dressing room and master en-suite. Bespoke wardrobes and furniture in a distinctive Grey Koto high gloss were designed for the master bedroom suite, ensuring design continuity through the spaces. Feature Murano crystal chandeliers were specified for the master bedroom and the master en-suite, adding that extra touch of glamour and creating stunning visual symmetry through the suite. In addition, with well-being firmly at the heart of an Oakeve home and consequently at the core of the design brief, leveraging natural light was of key importance so that the master bedroom was a bright, welcoming and inviting space. A large, feature bay window was specified for the master bedroom in order to capitalise upon the natural light that streams into the south-facing property, engendering a feeling of well-being and warmth within the room. Also included within the design brief was that this fabulous new show home had to be very safe and secure, comfortable and welcoming and technologically advanced, therefore utilising smart home technology and home automation solutions assisted the homeowners to more efficiently and effectively manage their home. A Control4 Multi-Room audio system and air conditioning was installed within the master bedroom to maximise the wellbeing and comfort of the potential purchaser. Likewise, home security and lighting technologies, including a panic button and a Lutron Homeworks programmable lighting system, were installed within the master bedroom suite at Hurlingham. The Control4 Audio System and the home security system were integrated into the Lutron lighting system so that when the master bedroom was in use, the lights would dim accordingly and could be controlled by either iPhone, iPad or other tablet/smartphone devices. CAT6 cabling was also provided, along with television points in order to future-proof the room and give the homeowner flexibility. The master bedroom, master dressing room and master en-suite at Hurlingham offer homeowners a large, open-plan and contemporary suite, so ensuring a seamless flow between the different areas of the suite and having them treated as one space was a key aspect of the project. The large master bedroom made intelligent use of the space by providing homeowners with different zones within the room. The feature bay window provides an elegant seating area, flooded with natural light, perfect for modern living. The lavishly upholstered headboard provides a focal point within the room and distinguishes the bed and the bedside tables as a separate area to the room. An ottoman was commissioned with chrome studding detail that mirrored the detail of the headboard. A ‘tallboy’ and a large chest of drawers in a Grey Koto high gloss were designed in accordance with the available space for the master bedroom, softly complementing the scheme and provided homeowners with additional storage space. White Phalaenopsis Orchids were a luxurious addition to the scheme and were used to soften and assuage the master bedroom suite.
