The new lounge is appropriately named the VIA Lounge, as the South African Airline lounges are a transition point for travellers as they travel via the airport to the destination of their choice. The VIA Lounge offers a fantastic pre-departure experience displayed through warm hospitality that has become synonymous with the SAA brand.
SAA customers visiting the Via Lounge are afforded an opportunity to experience the best hospitality, warmth, food, and service delivery the airline and Africa have to offer. The lounge features ample and comfortable seating areas with both private and open spaces, quality fresh cuisine, a rotating art gallery showcasing South African artists, a Junior Pilots kids’ area, stunning runway views, a Samsung smart-zone and high speed internet. SAA has also introduced Social Check In, which guests can access in the lounge and share their flights with their social media communities.
Customers can now look forward to a sophisticated, yet welcoming contemporary space with subtle, earthy tones to complement the SAA colour palette and our award-winning aircraft interiors. The fabric and textures create a link between the Platinum and Business Lounge experience, while the clever geographic naming device, creates a celebration of the city of Johannesburg through the visual language and local food served by the VIA Lounge crew and expertly prepared by Air Chefs.
The VIA Lounge also features rotating artwork by prominent South African, which are on display with much of the imagery featuring the City of Johannesburg.
The design has a local flavour while embodying the essence of global traveller’s expectations with splashes of colour creating a vibrant yet ‘home away from home’ design feel.
