design et al are delighted to announce that Studio Insign have been shortlisted for Residential £1-2.5 Million Plus (Property by Value) Award in The International Design and Architecture Awards 2017
Completed in August 2016, Studio Insign designer, Ana-Maria Calina has turned Modern Style Amiral House from the 1940s in Bucharest into a welcoming home in which space has been used intelligently, creating a functional and practical space. The house features Brâncovenesc influences to the exterior and within the interior, Studio Insign have opted for a practical and contemporary style, fitted with the latest technology.
The client wanted use of neutral colours and areas delineated by pieces of furniture. The designers created ergonomic and airy spaces, both by chromatic and by the volume of furniture, each having a well-defined utility. Each room has been designed differently to meet the expectations of all family members actively involved in the accomplishment of their dream.
The kitchen is a modern and fresh space, designed and produced by one of the most important brands in Italy. In the living room, dining room, bathrooms, hallways and staircase wood has been utilised for the floors as well as for the furniture in order to give warmth and intimacy to the rooms. Precious finishes such as brass and gold have been discreetly introduced in the design lightings, mosaic and decorations.
On the old stove’s structure, Studio Insign built a bioethanol fireplace. For the cladding of the fireplace and ceiling they used vintage-inspired ceramics that look spectacular with the LED strip lighting.
The master bedroom prevails shades of cream and brown, with the clients wanting an intimate and neutral space with soft and comfortable textures. The basement has had a major transformation as it now houses an industrial-vintage style Home Cinema that has become the favourite area of the house.
The entire project was designed and supplied turnkey, starting from 3D design approved by the client, technical plans, tracking, construction, supply and installation of products. The design works so well because it represents an ergonomic project created especially for the owners’ needs. The project has a complex and aesthetic design where all the rooms fit together creating a unitary concept.
