design et al are delighted to announce that SuMisura have been shortlisted for a Living Space- Global Award in The International Design and Architecture Awards 2016
Designed by world renowned architect, Carlos OTT, One Shenton is made up of two exquisite towers of 50 and 43 storeys tall. Atop the towers stand magnificent glass and metal structures which is a dramatic addition to the city’s skyline. The large windows in this living space allow a panoramic view of the city’s sky scrapers. The client who owns a high floor unit in this ultra luxurious building has expressed interest in a contemporary classic style, with the primary goal of creating a comfortable and intimate environment, with maximum seating for the family and allowing for a greater harmony between the living and dining spaces.
There were 2 key design challenges to the space; 2 structural columns that interferes with the placement of the furniture and the circulation. Due to the many entrances and exits within the apartment, the designers decided that bespoke furniture with the exact dimensions must be created within this space to make sure that circulation will not be compromised. While designing this space, the designers have proposed a beautiful low back, turquoise dining bench that was made to follow the contour of the structural column in the corner of the room.
With the dining bench brilliantly wrapped around the column, the column was well blended with the rest of the interior and enhanced the seating capacity. Across the hall is another square column that was mirrored to visually enhance the perceived length of the sofa that was tucked against it. Mirror finished surfaces brought in more light into the space while the elongated light cove and the customized area rug in hand tufted wool brought the living and dining spaces together harmoniously, much to the delight of the client.
