Cazan Design Group has been shortlisted for Bespoke Cabinetry/Installation Award in The International Design and Architecture Awards 2021.
Cazan Design Group worked on a contemporary home for a busy young family in Toronto. The articulated design and considered use of the space available resulted in an ideal function and flow of the family focused areas.
The design brief that the client provided Cazan Design with was to bring harmony to the space. In order to do so, the designers needed to incorporate faultless communication between all the finishes and colour throughout the house. This required artisan skills to coordinate the fine details, starting with electrical work, trim carpentry, cabinetry, custom metal working and plaster crown-moulding.
The eating area in the kitchen is connected and well-integrated around the preparation area for a better function and flow. Cazan Design Group’s fusing of these elements creates harmony and movement between the rest of the elements without overcrowding the spaces. For a clean and sophisticated appearance, the designers chose to incorporate bespoke cabinetry to conceal the numerous integrated appliances, developing a cohesive and usable space that remains modern and decongested. The custom range hood has also been designed in perfect harmony with the rest of the cabinetry.
The ceiling design accentuates the seating and island area, adding depth and warmth to the overall space and guiding the movement towards the family area, providing a connection between the two spaces. In the family room, a custom unit conceals the tv behind the sliding panel. In this way, Cazan Design Group has redirected the focal point towards the artwork above the fireplace.
The finalised space is unique and sophisticated, yet friendly. Cazan Design Group’s use of traditionally “cold” elements in this way have provided depth and an invitational warmth. This is a fresh, creative approach to the way the space is used, ensuring that the design is both clean yet also functional.
