London based designers, Darma, have been short listed for the Residential £5 million plus* award in the International Design & Architecture Awards 2103.
An exceptional and beautifully presented house has been totally refurbished and interior decorated by Darma team, located on one of the most desirable streets in the Kensington area.
When the house came up for sale, the client spotted the property advertised in their local newspaper, he could not resist the temptation to view it. The client loves renovating properties and selling them on. It had the potential to become a lovely family home. He bought the house and Darma began to renovate it. The client had a clear idea of what he wanted to achieve. The property had to be functional as well as good looking. He wanted the inside of the house to be a mix of both contemporary and classic looks. Straight lines, simplicity, uniformity are the keywords for the basement and lower ground floor area. Which accommodates the kitchen, dining and living areas as well as a utility room and fabulous natural oak wine cabinet.
Warmth, classic and sophistication are the keywords for the ground, first and second floor. On the ground floor of the house is reception room, which is the centre of the house. The elegant master bedroom was fully designed and realised by Darma team. The playful mix of light and dark create a feeling of luxury of a hotel room. Exquisite finishing in even the smallest of details. Use of natural materials such as wood, glass, concrete and stone add the organic style. Set against these natural textures is an enviable selection of colours, as well as handcrafted elements that relax the whole look of the house.
“The Darma team is fantastic, they can create almost everything from the wood and upholstery, so I only purchased a couple of new furniture and decorative accessories” explains the client.
The property comprises five bedrooms (all en-suite) and also offers a wealth of entertaining space including an impressive reception room, leisure area, modern bespoke kitchen/dining room and a wonderful garden. The house incorporates the latest technology, multi-room audio visual system. wooden floor, bespoke joinery and underfloor heating throughout. Refurbishment and redesign including interior decoration, front house redesign, fully stripped down to the basic structure, new steel beams installation, new flooring, creation of five en-suite bedrooms, and of course a new modern and efficient underfloor heating system. The exceptionally light and calming atmosphere combined with the superior craftsmanship and attention to detail, results in a truly unique property.
