design et al are pleased to announce that Global firm Duncan Miller Ullmann has been Shortlisted in the International Hotel & Property Awards 2015. Their project JW Marriott Zhengzhou has been Shortlisted into the Asia-Pacific Hotel over 200 rooms category.
Located in the heart of Zhengdong New District, the JW Marriott Zhengzhou Hotel is the newest luxury hotel in Zhengzhou. The 280-metre tall structure is the latest addition to the city’s skyline. Situated between levels 38 and 55 of the building, the 416 room hotel is the first Marriott hotel in Henan province, and the seventh JW Marriott hotel in Mainland China.
With interiors Designed by Duncan Miller Ullmann, the hotel embraces the latest technology yet elegantly incorporates the vast history of the region in its design influences. DMU’s design subtly acknowledges Zhengzhou as an ancient capital and the birthplace of the Chinese culture over 5000 years ago. Upon entry, the lobby’s stone floor repeats patterns from the building’s shape, which was inspired by traditional pagodas. Subtle bronze metal accent finishes throughout the building pay tribute to the ancient Bronze Age in East Asia. As guests transition into the Lounge, they are greeted with modern lanterns decorated with elegant crystal shades. Historically influenced color tones are used in the furnishings that adorn the reception and lounge. As guests settle in the lounge, they are treated to breathtaking views over the city skyline and Ruyi Lake. These design influences weave up through the hotel into the guest rooms, suites and grand Presidential Suite, all solidifying this new property as a future icon and certain destination among the Chinese hospitality scene.
