What direction do you feel design is moving towards in general terms?

We see design moving toward efficiency, in terms of energy and technology as well as space and comfort. Our goal is to encompass all aspects of our client’s life effectively into their business jet. We seek the highest level of performance, decoration with the luxuries of home and office all at your fingertips.

What projects are you currently working on?

Many of our current projects are confidential though we are designing a 787 interior concept that will be unveiled at the 2014 European Business Aviation Convention and Exhibit (EBACE) in Geneva, Switzerland.

A designer’s work is so diverse – how do you manage to hold down a career and a life?

By making your career and life one. That’s the joy of design, when it’s your passion there is no differentiation between the two. Space efficiency, beauty and innovation surround and inspire me daily.

Name five key themes to consider when approaching design in 2014 and beyond.

1.Plan for the future with adaptable methodology for systems and open architecture.

2.Design with sound engineering and robust materials.

3.Efficient use of interior storage space to make travelling as convenient as possible.

4.Visually bring the outside in by accentuating large windows and natural light.

5.Understand the complexity of private aircraft design and the need to adapt, keep fluid and communicate.

If you could offer one piece of advice when it comes to design schemes, what would it be?

Focus on making the process easy for your client. Frequently collaborate with them – the more you can draw from them and genuinely understand their passions, the more effective the results will be. Our most successful programs evolved from our design team immersing themselves in a client’s country, history and life’s passion.

How important are The International Yacht and Aviation Awards as recognition of talent and achievement?

The International Yacht and Aviation Awards are a prestigious recognition. It’s a excellent opportunity to hear from peers in our industry. Presenting Greenpoint’s 747-8 design concept and being considered for the award is an honour.

How do you relax?

My relaxation involves taking a 5 mile run in any city my travel takes me.

What are your aims and goals for the next twelve months?

In 2014, Greenpoint will induct our first VVIP 787 for completion and deliver our first VVIP 747-8. We continue to grow our team and support Boeing Business Jet (BBJ) completions as well as perform interior refurbishments and maintenance in our newly acquired Greenpoint Aerospace facility in Denton, Texas.
