Tell us a little about your background in design (education, experience, etc)

Jackal Chua ā€“ Graduated in non-design industry but started entrepreneurship since young. Have had working experience in various industries and including advertising, events, renovation and now design consultation.

Leong Wei Theng – Have had studied Interior Architecture & Design in KBU International College, in collaboration with Nottingham University. Working in an architectural firm which provide design services to Shopping Malls, Neighbourhood Centres and township development had provided a training ground to consider all aspects in designing spaces for the community. While 5 years working in Metrics Global gained exposures and creative exploration. Metrics Global is a solution provider to property developers in Malaysia which could provide all round and creative design proposals, in making the developments successful.

How would you describe your personal interior design style?
The Identity. – Depicting the originality and identity of the space and enhance further is our core to deliver tasteful design. The design concept is to be strongly applied and the product tells the story. Iā€™m taught to explore as much as possible in design concepts which the design concepts serve as the root and core of each product we designed. Designing a space with a distinct concept as if creating a soul for the space ā€“ creating identity.

Where does your design inspiration come from?
Inspiration could be from anywhere. Anything that we see, touch or even incidents we experience bring design inspirations.

In what direction do you feel that design is moving towards in a general sense?
Humanitarian. Every design is made to fit human-use and design will be purposeful.

If you could offer one piece of advice when it comes to interior design schemes, what would it be?
Appreciation to the Identity.

How important are The International Hotel & Property Awards as recognition of talent and achievement?
It is an achievement in the Hospitality Design industry, which it is a new direction that we working towards right now. As an interior design consultant to major property developers, we seek and provide new and exciting design concepts which outstands the development from others, while working on hospitality design, we are always required to back to basic to consider and rethink at all aspect, it is challenging but it will be a great achievement if we had made it.

What projects are you currently working on?
Current projects include boutique hotels in highlands, resorts as well as property conceptualization for new developments.

What are your aims and goals for the next twelve months?
To be internationally recognized as an all rounded designer
