Tell us a little about your background in design (education, experience, etc)
Michael graduated from Villanova with a BA in finance. He worked in various Home divisions of Polo/Ralph Lauren for 10 years. Production management refined his technical knowledge of manufacturing of furniture, fabric, wallpaper, lighting, and paint. As Design Director of furniture, Michael broadened his historical understanding and expertise in countries as diverse as Indonesia, England, Bali, France, Chile and the Philippines. In 2002, Michael and Mary Foley founded foley&cox and in 2007 launched foley&cox home.

How would you describe your personal design style?
A curated mix of modern & transitional.

Where does your design inspiration come from?
From international travel, contemporary art, clients, and timeless design.

In what direction do you feel that design is moving towards in a general sense?
Embracing traditional patterns, colors & silhouettes and presenting them with a fresh modern perspective.

Name five key themes to consider when approaching design in 2019 and beyond.
Versatility, uniqueness, timelessness, understated elegance, and tranquility.

 

If you could offer one piece of advice when it comes to design schemes, what would it
be?
Consider how a person/family will live within the space.

Having done projects throughout the world, it is an honor to be recognized in the industry for work you are proud of and passionate about.

What projects are you currently working on?
A newly constructed home in Ebbs, Austria for a young couple expecting their first child – installing May 2019.

A newly constructed home in Chestnut Hill, Boston – installing Summer 2019.

An interior furnishings project in Brookville, NY for new clients – installing Summer 2019.

A newly constructed home in Southampton, New York for the second generation of clients. We completed their parent’s beach home across the street in 2017. Installing
2020.

A newly constructed home in Greenwich, CT – installing 2020.

What are your aims and goals for the next twelve months?
As a firm we strive to continuously evolve our team through continuing education, travel, and cultural events. We continue to grow existing relationships with clients and industry colleagues that inspire collaboration and partnership.
