Tell us a little about your background in design:
After studying law and languages, Niloufar Bakhtiar-Bakhtiari made a career u-turn into the design industry. From a very early age she was submersed in the architecture and design world and always knew that this would be the sector in which she needed to work in to fulfil her ambitions.

She went on to design furnishings and fabrics. Niloufar established her interior design studio, NBB Design in 1999, specialising in the complete design, specification and implementation of exclusive interior and exterior spaces. A bespoke furniture design service is also available for larger items such as beds, chairs, tables and cabinetry is also available.

How would you describe your personal design style?
Our personal style is very eclectic yet always has spirituality and intellect as a starting point. A home is one of the highest forces of integration for thoughts, souvenirs and dreams of Man. At NBB Design, we like mixing classic references with some quirkiness. My leitmotiv is “multum in parvo” (much in little).

Where does your design inspiration come from?
Literature, Art, Travelling, Colours and Textures.

In what direction do you feel that design is moving towards in a general sense?
Design is like Fashion or History it usually negates the last trend but revers the ones before.

Name five key themes to consider when approaching design in 2020 and beyond.
Exclusivity, Sustainability, Craftsmanship, Technology, Differentiation.

If you could offer one piece of advice when it comes to design schemes, what would it be?
I always advise to have 2 starting points which hopefully will meet!
1. Dream interior
2. The design has to work for you and your lifestyle
