Tell us a little about your background in design (education, experience, etc).
A lifetime in the world of design and primarily in the world of Hotels has given me the foundation to unravel what a client needs and to deliver in return more than he or she ever expected.
How would you describe your personal design style?
We are chameleons in the design world striving to ensure our designs are as individual as the owners they are commissioned by.
Where does your design inspiration come from?
We always like to look into the history of the Hotel, and the surrounding area to use as a spring board
In what direction do you feel that design is moving towards in a general sense?
Anything goes!
Name five key themes to consider when approaching design in 2017 and beyond.
Ensure the designs are effortless
Take a look at the fashion industry – I always think interiors are not far behind!
Sustainability – a must!
Try recycling things
If you could offer one piece of advice when it comes to design, what would it be?
Be passionate in what you are striving for.
How important are The International Hotel and Property Awards as recognition of talent and achievement?
It is important to provide a platform for which industry experts can see what designers have achieved.
What projects are you currently working on?
The Lygon Arms Hotel, Broadway, The Guildhall Bristol Hotel, One Devonshire Gardens, Glasgow.
What are your aims and goals for the next twelve months?
To find a higher profile within the industry, I struggle with reaching out to ask for work and always think it will simply fall through the door! (which it often does but it could do with a little help!)
