. Tell us a little about your background in design
I have more than 15 years’ experience designing Hotels, restaurants and leisure environments across the UK & abroad. Creativity is my priority – but it is always grounded in my practical experience. Interior design and architecture should always be diverse, but harmonious, with an emphasis on detail. I take an eclectic approach, applying a diverse range of traditional and contemporary techniques to formulate a focused creative direction.

. How would you describe your personal design style?
I wouldn’t say as much a personal style rather than design ethos from a passion for creativity with honesty & a touch of playfulness.

. Where does your design inspiration come from?
From the creativity & passion of others be it architecture, graphic or client operation & vision.

. In what direction do you feel that design is moving towards in a general sense?
It’s great that people are looking for truly authentic or ‘real’ experiences and this is reflected in the design.

. Name five key themes to consider when approaching design in 2015 and beyond.
Re-purposed comfort will progress unabated until saturated. As the economy further improves this will be diluted with a more sophisticated style, specific decorative environments which will evolve are Nordic, African & Arabic.

. If you could offer one piece of advice when it comes to design, what would it be?
Take time to give, receive & evolve a detailed brief.

. How important are The International Hotel and Property Awards as recognition of talent and achievement?
IH&P awards give opportunity to showcase the wealth of creative talent to inspire all.
