Tell us a little about your background in design (education, experience, etc)
These White Walls was founded in 2017 by Rose Murray. The studio’s practice represents the synthesis of her multidisciplinary background as a scenographer,
stylist and designer.
Rose began her career by turning an internship at Vogue into a role as stylist for Nigella Lawson. Her vanguard spirit led her into the world of events, creating immersive dining experiences for chefs including Ottolenghi and Mark Hix. PopUps became permanent so in 2017, driven by client demand, Rose set up the studio.

How would you describe your personal interior design style?
My style is boldly elegant and radically refined. Our studio takes a blank canvas approach to creativity, so that every interior emerges as unique. We design according to an ethos rather than an aesthetic.

Where does your design inspiration come from?
Life offline, and everything in it

In what direction do you feel that design is moving towards in a general sense?
Design now is ever more focused upon our need to create for wellbeing, community and sustainability, which enhance a luxurious living experience.

Name five key themes to consider when approaching design in 2019 and beyond.
Gender-neutralised interiors
Biopihilic credentials that celebrate our connection to nature
Maximalist artpieces
Four poster beds
Couture walls

If you could offer one piece of advice when it comes to interior design schemes, what would it be?
Dare to be different.

How important are The International Hotel & Property Awards as recognition of talent and
achievement?
The Awards are hugely important for championing the role of designers who enhance the industry.

What projects are you currently working on?
A boutique spa hotel in Italy, residences in the UAE and private homes in London

What are your aims and goals for the next twelve months?
To continue expanding our portfolio of projects within the international market, and to keep growing our bespoke product range.
