Tell us a little about your background in design (education, experience, etc)
I trained as a Silversmith initially, worked in Management for a number of years within a University, studied Interior design in Dublin Institute of Design and set up Practice in 2004.

How would you describe your personal design style?
Quite minimalist with carefully considered furniture pieces.

Where does your design inspiration come from?Architecture, Travel, Museums, Fashion, Magazines, Trade Fairs.

What direction is design moving towards?
In terms of residential design both Architecture and Interior design will I feel, work in a more collaborative manner to design homes that will serve to bring family units together but also provide spaces where people can be alone to work, rest or play away from the TV, and provide storage in abundance.  Making sure that the home becomes a place that caters to the many facets of family life  – now more than ever “working from home” needs to be catered for.

Name five key themes to consider when approaching design in 2020 and beyond.

  • Space Planning – Reconfiguring spaces
  • Flexible spaces
  • Lighting – Energy Saving Devices
  • Well being
  • Colour

If you could offer one piece of advice when it comes to design schemes, what would it be?Designing very detailed floor – furniture & lighting layout plans at the start of the project

How important are The International Design & Architecture Awards?
Very important in bringing the world of Architecture & Design together, and being judged in terms of merit.

What projects are you currently working on?
Residential projects in both Ireland and London for Private Clients, as well as a Healthcare Clinic in London, and a Retail Showroom in Dublin.

What are your aims and goals for the next twelve months?
Aims are to have projects resume post Covid-19 that were put on hold during the pandemic, and to continue as a practice that offers both Architecture and Interior Design as a single integrated vision. The goals are to continue to cater for Private Clients in the residential sector of the market, designing and creating spaces that are unique and individual to each Client.
