Congratulations to Designer Touches who have been shortlisted for Residential £1-2.5 Million (Property by Value) Award in The International Design & Architecture Awards 2019

design et al are delighted to announce that Designer Touches has been shortlisted for Residential £1-2.5 Million (Property by Value) Award in The International Design & Architecture Awards 2019.

Designer Touches were tasked with creating a beautiful, luxurious home which was open plan, comfortable, easy to live in and dog friendly. The clients, a professional couple with extremely busy working lives, wanted to create a luxurious, open plan living space which they can entertain in. As dog owners, the interiors, fabrics and materials used in the project had to be practical, resilient and easy to clean.

At the heart of the design is the stunning bespoke kitchen created in conjunction with Stoneham Kitchens, which incorporated tinted mirrored doors and walnut inlay detailing within the cabinetry, which picked up on the furniture finish that was used within the rest of the scheme. The client was also keen to create as much light into the property as possible, so the space was re-designed to incorporate a sky light into the main living area, the feeling of indoor/outdoor space was created by adding two sets of bi-folding doors and additional accent lighting set within the coving. A further sense of space and light was created by installing a bespoke glass staircase with walnut balustrading.

A further prerequisite of the project was that the client did not want to have any televisions on show, therefore Designer Touches had to come up with a variety of options for each room. Within the living room the designers incorporated the TV within a mirror which was recessed above the fireplace and in the bedrooms the TVs were recessed within the ceilings and worked on a drop-down mechanism. In addition, the clients wanted to incorporate as much automation as possible throughout the house. Therefore, all the window treatments, AV and lighting are controlled via a Lutron system.

Within the brief the client wanted to keep key architectural features within the property such as the beautiful original stain glass window. Designer Touches centred the entire design scheme and colour pallet around the window to ensure that it was a fundamental element within the room. By keeping these key architectural features a focal point within the designs, Designer Touches ensure that the interiors are sympathetic to the original architecture of the property as well as turning it into a beautiful home fit for modern living.
