Tell us a little about your background in design (education, experience, etc.)
In 2000, Mar Silver launched Mar Silver Design based on experiences of travelling around the world and studying abroad. Her experience is drawn from these travels and studies in Israel, Africa, Middle East, Spain, Paris, New York, Toronto, Bali, and beyond. In addition to her design business, she has acquired an extensive and vibrant collection which includes original designs, art and artefacts, furniture and singular pieces.
How would you describe your personal design style?
Mar has an intuitive and soulful approach to design using layers of elements and ideas that transcend the visual and embraces the senses. Relying on an approach that balances minimalism with casual sophistication, her projects thoughtfully blend clean and modern elements with components related to nature and spirituality. The end result is creating a home sanctuary.
Where does your design inspiration come from?
Her inspiration comes from her world travels and experiences with a wide variety of cultures. Drawing on this experience, Mar becomes a unique Creator of Environments.
In what direction do you feel that design is moving towards in a general sense?
Design is moving towards customisation.

I suggest finding one anchor in the room and design around it. It could be something like a special piece of furniture, a piece of art or an architectural element,

The International Design & Architectural Awards are important because it is wonderful to be recognised by your peers and the most talented designers working today. By taking the time to recognise these extraordinary individuals and their work, allows us to take a pause and truly appreciate our colleagues’ incredible projects.
What projects are you currently working on?
Luxury Residences in Paris and Greenwich CT as well as a luxury commercial project in Spain.
What are your aims and goals for the next twelve months?
To continue to build the Mar Silver Brand.
