DESTINATION BAR AT THE LONDON HILTON ON PARK LANE REACHES IH&P SHORTLIST

Following a 500k refurbishment, Galvin at Windows has been shortlisted for the International Hotel & Property Awards 2013 in the Bar / Club / Lounge category.

The restaurant and bar is located on the 28th floor of the London Hilton on Park Lane, overlooking Hyde Park and surrounded by light. Inspired by this unique location, the design concept looks to the capture of light: photography and cinematography, with references to the 1930s and the Golden Age.

The room has been re-orientated to maximise on the view, with a central seating feature and window banquettes that ‘frame’ Hyde Park. A new larger bar has been created by reclaiming redundant back of house space, and been detailed with St Laurent marble and mother of pearl. The furniture is all bespoke, and a unique ‘Galvin’ chair has been developed with General Manager, Fred Sirieix, and designers Central Design Studio.

Central Design Studio was founded by designer Ian Haigh after 12 years of working for some of London’s best known design companies, including David Collins, United Designers, and Martin Brudnizki. Since forming in 2010, they have been involved with various projects around the world, for clients including the BBC, Hilton Hotels, and Jamie Oliver, as well as independent operators and private individuals.
