Modern Era Design have been shortlisted for Residential £1-2.5 Million (Project Value) Award in The International Design and Architecture Awards 2020.
Modern Era Design were referred by a previous client to be the interior designers for this private residence. The clients, both hard working and successful, decided it was time for an upgrade and were able to purchase a property in a prestigious area in the West end of Edmonton. This home is a sprawling 4000 square feet, contemporary modern home to accommodate a growing and working family.
The home boasts 20 feet high ceilings with beautiful architectural lighting, art and original designs. It inhabits an open thread, metal beamed staircase that is a showstopper upon entering the home. A beautiful living space with onyx inspired tiles on the tall fireplace. Modern Era Design made the fireplace the focal point, with the custom mantel and open shelving. This focal point is surrounded by custom furniture with high performance fabrics to accommodate the client’s young children.
Modern Era Design added various pops of colour, texture and finishes to give all the rooms unique elements. The client envisioned a warm space for their home and the designers therefore added rich coloured, wide, plank flooring and quartz countertops in each space. There are also large windows all over the home to give a lot of natural light.
The home contains a modern, functional high-end kitchen with beautifully painted white wood flat profile cabinets, and walnut veneer upper cabinets and island. Warmth was created through the walnut cabinetry and metals and brass which were incorporated into the kitchen. In the kitchen nook, a custom vibrant Crypton blue fabric banquette was a bespoke piece that Modern Era Design had created for the clients, as the kitchen eating area had to be multifunctional and comfortable.
A home office with the ravine view and attached balcony to have the morning coffee was something the clients dreamt of. The master bedroom represented the client’s needs – an oasis after a long day of work. It had to be fun and relaxing at the same time. The dresser and bed side tables to give the room a masculine feel to define the style of both parties. The client loves the A-symmetry design approach which Modern Era Design did by incorporating a light on only the left side of the room.
It took almost two years to complete the drafting, construction, interior design, and interior decorating of the home. It is truly a family home to be lived in and loved.
