London-based bar group, Drake & Morgan, have been successfully shortlisted in the International Hotel & Property Awards 2014 with ‘The Fable‘ competing for the Bar/Club/Lounge Award.
Designed by Fusion Design & Architecture, this is an innovative destination bar and restaurant split over three floors, featuring a florist, wine shop and plenty of imaginative touches.
The brief was to create an exciting and innovative bar and restaurant, which offers a unique experience and smoothly transforms from day to night. The 10,000 square foot interior was to be visually stimulating with a host of different areas for customers to explore each time they visit. Natural light floods the space, whilst well-considered lighting transforms it from the day to night.
With palm wallpaper, retro copper and gold pendant lights and bountiful potted plants, the upper ground floor features a mix of high oak tables alongside low-slung comfy seating. Shelves adorn the walls showcasing products from a pop-up shop, whilst a butchers’ block table provides a space for masterclasses.
Downstairs a statement wall has been created on the staircase using books as wallpaper. A mezzanine level features chestnut leather chairs, burnt orange fabrics, copper tables, pendant lighting and timber flooring, providing an intimate space to linger. Bespoke Anglepoise lamps and a freestanding bar with rusted panelling add to the warm and inviting atmosphere. The lower ground floor has been furnished with leather stools and zinc benches for social drinking and softer dining chairs for leisurely stays, while the open kitchen showcases everything from preparation to service.
A statement bar with reclaimed terracotta flooring, wireframe fox head lighting and a clever booth area created from stacked books are interesting touches, which draw the eye. Tucked under the stair, a florist features a roll top bath filled with flowers, whilst a wine shop boasts a wall of bottles, with tasting tables.
